about

Trisha Mason Releases “Worse or Better”

"What I would give to be sitting next to my grandfather on the piano
bench again watching him bust out that ragtime classic, “The Entertainer,"
States songstress, Trisha Mason.

With the release of her debut album, "Worse or Better" it is clear that carrying on
the family tradition of making music is what she is suppose to be doing.

As a teenager, Mason began writing songs of heart break, happiness, strife,
struggle's and depression. She laughs about it today, however she continues
to write songs about heart break, happiness, strife, struggle’s and depression.

The irony of her music is apparent as she sings a sad lyric to an upbeat
and happy melody. In the tradition of the singer-songwriter Mason finds it
therapeutic and cathartic to play rock'n'roll and scream out loud.
Yes, Mason's music is rock'n'roll! She is not just another chick with a guitar singing soft and lithe ballads.

"Worse Or Better" is a collection of short songs that kick in the crotch, slap in the face
and kiss and make up with no apologies. The album is joyful, vulnerable, rough
and honest. Produced by Mason, Engineer Doug Hoyt and Drummer Steve Peer
the songs careen wildly as Mason's voice provides the linchpin that keeps the
tracks concise and forceful.

Mason recruited a collection of players that reads like the guest list
at a Grammy's after party. Member's of the country western new wave
disco punk rock garage band, The Larks appear on the opening track,
"Break My Heart." Monster neo-metal guitarist Jon Condon anchors many
of the tracks with his chunky straight forward chording. Bobbi Lane
offers up some hillbilly style banjo pickin' on "Here with me" while
rising jazz player, Cody Miller lays down some sizzling alto sax on the
opening track. While touring the United States from neighboring Nova
Scotia, fiddle sensation Colin Grant dropped into the studio and contributed
his genius to several tracks. While recording the album Mason was
forming her touring band and band mate Doug Empie makes a
gorgeous last minute fiddle offering on the title track "Worse or Better "

If you like rock'n'roll, power pop and a little tenderness it will not take you long
to fall under Mason's spell.
